The music industry is a business entity in constant flux. Gradually, CDs are disappearing as the format of choice and the leader in music sales retail. However, there is an old favorite and friendly pop to millions of music lovers and music competition for the almighty dollar.
Vinyl records are back, as young people today are discovering the listening experience is greatly enriched by using this medium of music history. In fact, the resurgence of the market for vinyl records shows no signs of slowing. Nielsen SoundScan has released figures showing estimated that sales of vinyl in U.S. are 50% through the first five months of 2009. Have giant also predicted that sales of vinyl records will reach more than 2.7 million units sold in 2009, with 1.9 million units in 2008.
To be fair, these figures are slightly underestimated by the sale of vinyl used in our shrinking stores. Also, do not take into account some of the independent record stores, vinyl is sold in better. However, there is a new model emerging vinyl, places where millions of people do their 'shopping vinyl, "the online music store. While online shopping can not replace the experience of visiting your store discs, vinyl consumers can visit hundreds of online record sellers and find records that may not be offered in your local store, such as imports rare photograph albums, boxes or dark versions of other countries. There are websites that cater to the strictly jazz, offering some classic rock or psychedelia, rap or R & B, and some dealing with 45rpm records, which still sell 78 rpm records for those in need of this means rustic. There are some who specialize in audiophile vinyl, rare and out of the paper records. But most online retailers offer vinyl an eclectic variety of music to choose from and millions of music lovers now fulfill their musical palette and find the web site to register online for their needs.
Let's explore this phenomenon in greater detail with the owner of www.recordsontheweb.com, Laura Miller, who started in the business of music as a DJ at KVMR, a community radio station in Nevada City, California, so it has a deep understanding and love for the format.
"I felt compelled to open a record store and as a vinyl enthusiast wanted to help people find vinyl records at a reasonable price reasonable, "said Laura.
It started in the business of selling vinyl records in 1988, near Sacramento, California, running a shop called "In The Groove". After Operation 'brick and mortar "to store more than nine years, sold his business and has been supplying online vinyl very well with your website and eBay Power as 'shop'.
However one of the obstacles the company is actually selling record search, Laura is always looking for collections.
"I buy collections of persons and property," explains Laura. "Three years ago I bought incredibly large collection (6,000 records) of a music critic. Search collections is the hardest part of my business. I'm always looking for large collections of vinyl records (LPs and 45s) and memories of music, especially from people who have been in the music business, music critics, the former record company people or broadcasters. I'm interested mainly in 1950 and 1960 from jazz, blues, rock, soul, country and travel to large collections. I also offer fare finder for tips leading to the purchase of large collections. "
Laura also explained some of the advantages and disadvantages selling online.
"The advantage of selling online is that I can take orders 24 hours a day and I have an international clientele. A record store has limited hours, which must be personal and has a limited geographical scope. One disadvantage of selling online is sending records by media e-mail within the United States. The applicant's post office it takes 4-14 days for mailing the media, but can take up to three weeks or more. Most people do not realize how long it takes, and we do occasionally receive e-mails from angry customers wondering where is my order?
Tell us more about your online business.
"We have several music genres including jazz, rock, blues, country, and soul and have over 10,000 stock records. I would say that jazz and rock LPs are our best sellers. We grade conservatively according to Standards of the journal Goldmine and the highest grade that would give a record near mint (NM), "said Laura." In a grocery store on eBay (name the seller is littlelam), I am very careful about grading records.
There are literally hundreds of online stores that vinyl has continued its tradition of offering quality used vinyl at reasonable prices. Record buyers should eliminate the best and worst and the great aspect of this method of retailing is that it is quite easy to find online vendor that suits your needs. Now if only you can tell ….
