show some love for Otis Redding?
Otis Redding (September 9, 1941 until December 10, 1967) was an American soul singer. According to the site site of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (where he was admitted in 1989), Redding's name is "synonymous with the term soul, music that grew out of experience the black in America through the transmutation of gospel and rhythm and blues into a form of funky, secular testifying. I "met" Otis Redding in 1982, when he was 14 years old. The mother of my first love would all sorts of records, and we danced in the kitchen. At that time, I was struck by the love and emotion in the room, but I thought it was from his wonderful hugs and big blue eyes. The jump forward a few years, and me and my boyfriend (a different one, with hazel eyes) skipped school to watch the first screening of the new John Hughes movie, Pretty in Pink "." Then I met Otis for second time http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=97H1dToqfxY And that's when I realized that at least part of the excitement in the kitchen came from that soft voice coming from the stereo as they danced around the table. By the way, he had collected information that had been Otis but I did not know the details. As a child detail, after the movie, we went to the library and looked me up. For some reason, I was really sad that he died just two months before I was born. I wanted to have at least share the planet with him a bit. But what I realized that day, standing in the library, waiting for the police is not broken by not being in school was that I was still sharing the planet with him – he left an impressive legacy. And some good music to dance around the kitchen table. He will always be, for me, but a man of 26 years. He will always be the sound of love and good feelings, and a special kind of heat. And maybe that's what matters.
