Knight Pips

Thinking of Motown, the legendary Detroit record label that characterized an entire era, a few names come to mind wonderful memories trigger. Diana Ross and the Supremes, the epitome of glamor and glitz, Marvin Gaye, with its irresistible sensuality, Stevie Wonder, the essential man band, Smokey Robinson with its ease of singing beatings, and of course, Berry Gordy Jr., the leader in good faith.

Before the birth of Motown ', black music was seen as a minority taste, as a result of migration of many black people of South-North agricultural industry during the First World War This population shift created a group population, which developed R & B music in the 1940s. In the mid-50s, black music found expression of soul music, as a result of the confluence of R & B, gospel and doo-wop. At this point in history, the soul is associated with the black movement for civil rights through the transformation of black music in a funky kind of statement.

Also, before Motown, late 40s and 50s, Detroit had a prominent jazz scene white musicians like Frank Morelli, Leo Osebold and Red Ray. The postwar economic boom had favored Detroit to create a variety of challenging jobs for the jazz musicians, giving way to a hearing with an interest in supporting jazz and creating a network of business people with an interest in catering to that audience. The advanced instrumental techniques of white musicians and the secrets of improvisation seemed to leave no place for black artists to enter the magical world of jazz soul and music industry in general.

The founder of Motown in 1959 marked a paradigm shift of cultural preferences towards the integration of music black into white society. Although black auto workers in Detroit were subjected to extreme racial discrimination and racism, the black music found its way to millions of households and white Americans crossed the color line in an unprecedented way.

In addition, music itself has changed. With catchy grooves, palms, the body moves impulsive, improvisational embellishments, and regular interaction between the solo and chorus, Motown capitalized on the dynamic list of local jazz talent, nightclubs and places thriving independent room and competing labels, which Gordy of Motown's vision to change the course of music in America and around the world, musical entity to be considered throughout the 60s until late 80s.

Smokey Robinson and the miracles that were among the first artists Motown who headed the lists of the store with her 1960 release 'Around "also became the label of the first sale of a million albums. In addition, Robinson's extraordinary talent for identifying issues that could become smash hits and his contribution to other Motown artists like The Temptations, Marvin Gaye, The Four Tops, Brenda Holloway, The Contours, The Marvelettes and others, made it practically an architect of black music.

Decade after decade, Motown created a model that should be adored for generations to come. Smokey Robinson & The Miracles, Diana Ross & The Supremes, The Temptations, The Jackson Five, The Four Tops, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Martha Reeves & The Vandellas, The Commodores, The Marvelettes, Gladys Knight & The Pips, they worked with passion and enthusiasm for bring a new sound to the world and make history. Today, after all these years of musical influences and experimentation, the emergence of a variety of different but converge genres of music, the Motown sound remains fresh. In fact, Motown rocked the music industry with a stream of back-to-back hits forging way for the continued dominance of modern R & B music.

About the Author:

I work as a financial and investment advisor but my passion is writing, music and photography. Writing mostly about finance, business and music, being an amateur photographer and a professional dj, I am inspired from life.

Being a strong advocate of simplicity in life, I love my family, my partner and all the people that have stood by me with or without knowing. And I hope that someday, human nature will cease to be greedy and demanding realizing that the more we have the more we want and the more we satisfy our needs the more needs we create. And this is so needless after all.
