The third studio album and end by The Jimi Hendrix Experience was the 1968 double album Electric Ladyland. This is the album that many fans of Jimi Hendrix (including me) believe it is their true masterpiece. While their first two albums were excellent as well, Electric Ladyland is a truly mind blowing journey and that is exactly what Hendrix meant to be.
The album begins with some other-worldly vocals on "… And the Gods Made Love". This lets you know exactly what kind of stumbled with experience you're in for. This certainly is not music to be only just heard is music to be truly experience (as a group name refers to.) The music is not, it is up to the listener to open their minds and really "take the journey."
The album contains many styles different in the same 16 tracks (two of which at least 13 minutes.) An example of these different styles is the inspired British rock "Little Miss Strange" (which account with bassist Noel Redding on vocals, Redding also wrote the song.) This is a cool song because it gives an idea of what a British rock band (as The Beatles and The Who) would have sounded like with Jimi Hendrix on guitar. Another example is the rock blues of "Voodoo Chile" (which is a different song to the much best known "Slight Return").
"Voodoo Chile" is 15 minutes long and begins conventionally enough, as a song heavy blues but eventually breaks down into full on psychedelic rock (go about 9 minutes of the track to get an idea of what I'm talking about.) For those who truly love bluesier side of Hendrix this is a great, great track.
Then there is the excellent mix which is part 3 of the album start with "Rainy Day, Dream Away" and ends with "Still Raining Still Dreaming". This is probably the most "far" part of the album and taking into account what else is on the album, saying it is definitely a little.
Included in this mix is 13 minutes "1983 (a mermaid I Should Turn To Be)" which includes the production of albums study more adventurous.
The album also includes some classics from Hendrix called "Crosstown Traffic," "Gypsy Eyes" "Burning of the Midnight Lamp," "All Along The Watchtower" and the aforementioned "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)." If you are unfamiliar with this album, these songs are probably already recognized it from somewhere else (on the radio or a "Greatest Hits" type album.)
While I definitely recommend getting three albums, I believe that Electric Ladyland is Hendrix's last album. If you have not and you love the music you've heard Jimi Hendrix's so far then you really should listen.

Are You Experienced $6.41 As emblematic of its time as of its sorcerer-like creator, 1967’s Are You Experienced unleashed Jimi Hendrix onto a world in the midst of such cultural and musical shakeups that it really didn’t seem as “far out” as it actually was. It wasn’t just Hendrix’s virtuosic skill as a pure player that was so impressive; it was, even more, the range and scope of sheer sound that he coaxed, cajoled, and ri… |

Electric Ladyland $9.23 Bursting with ideas and energy, Jimi Hendrix’s second album release of 1968 (following Axis: Bold as Love) was a double-LP set that showcased virtually everything the guitar genius had to offer: blistering blues (”Voodoo Chile”), galaxy-patrolling space jams (”1983… A Merman I Should Turn to Be”), psychedelic soul (”Crosstown Traffic”), and skyscraping rock (”Voodoo Child (Slight Return)”). Live at Woodstock [VHS] $3.49 Jimi Hendrix’s appearance at Woodstock may have been one of his most celebrated performances, as the producers of this DVD put it. But it would be a stretch to call it one of his greatest. By the time the guitarist finally took the stage, weather and endless logistical delays had pushed the show to Monday morning, a day after the festival was supposed to have ended. By then, the audience was too t… |

Band of Gypsys [VHS] $7.28 Made less than a year before his death in September 1970, Band of Gypsys was an album recorded live to fulfill a contractual obligation for a long-forgotten deal Jimi Hendrix signed when he still spelled his name “Jimmy.” Hendrix had just disbanded the Jimi Hendrix Experience, and in order to dispense with the album as quickly as possible, he put together a new trio featuring Billy Cox (an old Arm… |
