George Shearing
What is the difference between duty and shore duty?

My boyfriend is stationed in Japan and is assigned to the USS George Washington. He is recruited for 4 years and has been almost for 1 to date. It is a E-2 and thinks he'll rank to E-3 next spring. I suppose it is the duty of the sea now. I wonder if will be able to shore duty and be able to return to the U.S.? Or is he stuck out there for the rest of your enlistment? And also, what exactly the difference between the two?

If you are stationed on the USS George Washington, who is entitled to the sea. It is possible but unlikely to return to the United States within your current enlistment unless he agrees to any extension or re-enlist. It is also partly dependent on its status (working) and if it is in rotation (some qualifications are required to pass many years of service before they can have the right coast). If you know your work, easy to find the rotation and give a more definite answer. The difference between the duty and responsibility of the seashore is exactly what it seems. Basically: Right Shore is when they are parked on land and generally do not deploy. Law of the sea is when you deploy on ships or submarines.

These sixteen performances are a perfect pairing of vocalist and pianist. Both Michael Feinstein and George Shearing work well in such a spare setting and they’ve wisely chosen to focus exclusively on ballads. These two consummate musicians, a generation apart, are united by the timelessness of the traditions they both draw from. For this project they turned to the songs of an under celebrated Ame…
